Last week I shot an amazing singer/songwriter, Marsha Nedgie. This was her first ever photoshoot, so I knew going into it I would have to work hard to make her feel comfortable in front of the camera. Before I shoot artist, I always listen to some of their music to get a feel for them and their vibe. After I listened to some of Marsha’s music I knew I needed to create photos that were really soulful, and showed her personality. I think the shoot went really well, and showed a lot of character. Let me know what you think!
Nabil just happens to be one of my favorite music producers right now. Always intrigued by music videos, I know it’s something I will get into very soon, I have been paying more and more attention to who is the director. Nabil actually caught my attention when I found out he made a lot of Kanye’s videos. Most notably Welcome to Heartbreak. Here’s two vids from Nabil, a true inspiration.
Over the weekend I shot a 2 on 2 basketball tournament for Dime Magazine. It was some serious ball playin’, and made me wish I was ballin’ too. It $2000 on the line, so these guys were not messing around. The tournament was sponsored by Redbull, so free drinks were nice after hours in the hot sun. The below shots are all images I took that I thought were cool perspectives on the tournament outside of the stuff you’d normally get after shooting an event like this.
I was out today and took this photo with my iPhone, just thought I’d share.
Last weekend I traveled down to Brooklyn, NY to shoot current women’s boxing champ, Melissa Hernandez. What I really wanted out of the shoot was to capture the essence and rawness of what a typical training day was like for her. So, I just had her do her normal routine as I followed her around the gym. I’ve always been interested in boxing myself so it was pretty fun for me to see what a typical day in the gym was like. In addition to being a pro boxer, Melissa also trains others at Gleason’s Gym. A few years ago, she even trained Hillary Swank for her role in Million Dollar Baby. Anyway, one thing’s for sure Melissa is one person I would NOT want to take a punch from.
A few months ago, around Dec./Jan. I was traveling through Europe to Barcelona, Spain and Manchester, England with Gary Land digital teching for him as we shot the images for Adidas’ 2010 World Cup campaign which finally launched this week. It was a huge shoot, probably the biggest for Adidas in the last 5 years or so. So huge, that PDN decided to interview Gary about the experience. I have to say that even though the article isn’t about me, I’m still proud to have played a part in such an enormous production. Take a look at the interview, and if you really want to show how much you support order a copy of this month’s PDN.
So, last week in Chicago, 4 of my photos were put on exhibit by some students at Columbia College of Art. It was really an honor to have these guys think so much of my work that they wanted to put it on display for everyone to see. The exhibit running until May 26th, so if you’re in Chicago be sure to stop by 35th and Michigan to check it out. Here’s some pics from opening night. Some of my friends were able to make it out to check them out too! I was really excited about that.
Quite some time ago I did a beauty shoot with model, Amanda Gordon and make up artist, Lindsey Guest. It was a really fun shoot, and I’m just now getting around to posting the shots from that. It’s been a really busy month, having shoots left and right with more shoots coming up. Hopefully, I’ll have some time for some blogging. Until then, enjoy these shots from the shoot.
Yesterday, I had a shoot with music artist Aria Christian. It was a pretty good time shooting with her. Currently, she’s a student at Berkley College of Music. Hopefully, we’ll be able to shoot again for some of her upcoming projects.
