So I’ve been sitting at my computer all day today reading random blogs that belong to professional photographers. They all have a lot of the same experiences. All of them are very successful in their field, having done portraits for celebrities, and big advertisement campaigns, blah blah blah. All of them talk about the competition element that exist in the photography industry, and how bottom feeders steadily continue to drive the price down of the work that they do. Which brings me to my next point.
People always ask me, why in the world would you study Business Economics, and then go into photography, isn’t that backwards? Shouldn’t you have gone to art school? My answer to them is no. Why would I? Is photography not a business? Are you not selling a product? To some, all photography is, is art. But, to an enterprising young mind such as my own, photography is not only art but a product waiting to be sold to the highest bidder. I would say in my experience so far, that 90% of this photo stuff is business. So will I put my degree to good use? I most certainly will. Taking photos and earning $$$$$ beats sitting at a desk in an office earning $$$$$$ anyday.
It doesn’t matter who you are, or how much you don’t cuss….But, when you come home with a trunk load of groceries and this is the reason you had to park on the corner instead of right in front of your house…You say “Aint that a b****!?”
I was waiting all day for these and guess who finally came…..The UPS man….Its time to really get things rolling in 2008….What better way to do it than have a new business card.
I just have to say this…I am a proud University of Illinois student but yesterday our team got destroyed by USC in the Rose Bowl. I knew we were the underdogs goin in but man, did we not show up to game or what!? But its cool, maybe we’ll make it again next year. I just thought it would’ve been fun to win a bowl game while I was still at the school. I mean before this year, our team had only won about 6 games over the last 3 years, so GO ILLINI!!!
I hope everyone has a successful and prosperous 2008…The only way to do it is to claim it, so right now I’m claiming my success in 2008 because I know God has something special waiting for me, and you…
With myself embarking on a journey unknown, I want to start 2008 with one of my favorite quotes….
“I’m not afraid of dyin’, I’m afraid of not tryin’ so everyday hit every wave like I’m Hawaiian” – Jay-z
Again, have a fun and safe New Year.
